New online BBF map with routes - Atanasovsko Lake

The four tourist routes for individual and group visits to Lake Atanasovsko provide the opportunity to explore the lake, do sports, and see wildlife within the city of Burgas. One of the routes is only in the southern part of the lake and can be walked and cycled ("Park Ezero"). Another is entirely in the northern part (the Road to the Reserve) and is pedestrian only. The third ("Light Salty Route") goes through the southern part of the lake along the sea and reaches "The Point" (preferably by bicycle), and the last one is a circular 30 km route and circles the whole lake from a short distance and from afar.

As the area is very sensitive and parts of the routes pass through or near protected areas, the BBF recommends following some rules of conduct:
  • The routes in the lake should only be walked, without making noise and without sudden movements.
  • Do not deviate from the marked path and do not enter the reserve.
  • Killing, trapping, chasing and disturbing animals and damaging plants is forbidden.
  • Do not soil, do not light a fire or make a camp inside the lake.
  • Brightly colored clothing is not recommended, but wear closed shoes and long pants. Always check yourself for ticks.
  • Do not use sound, light, or mechanical devices that attract birds or other animals.
  • If you find an injured, distressed or dead animal, observe trespassing, poaching, environmental damage, or damage to nature, call 112 or the “green” phone number of the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water - Burgas - 056/813212.
The routes are part of the activities of the project "Lagoon of Life" (LIFE17 /NAT /BG558). They are uploaded on google maps with descriptions, photos, and challenges on the ground, thanks to the project "DESTINATION FLAMINGO" of the BBF, funded by the Public Board of TELUS International Europe in Bulgaria.

The BBF works with perseverance to promote cycling and walking routes in different areas important for biodiversity to provide more nature lovers with the opportunity to enjoy the greatest asset that Bulgaria has - the preserved wild nature.

After the presentation of the mountain challenges in Osogovo and Belasitsa, now it is the turn of Lake Atanasovsko
