The lecturer will be Assoc. Prof. PhD Momchil Panayotov from, Forestry of University in Sofia, Bulgaria

In recent decades numerous disturbances in European forests such as windthrows, damages from ice and wet snow, fires, insect outbreaks, etc. attracted significant attention. To what extent are these events natural and part of the natural processes (I.e. natural dynamics) in forests? Do human activities in the past and present times affect them? Are there effects of climate change? Such questions require thorough knowledge on the topic. In the webinar Momchil Panayotov will tell about studies on the topic in Bulgaria and provide some examples from natural reserves in coniferous forests.

The webinar is carrying out within the project "Future Environmentalists - Linking EU Natural Capital Management to Field Research". The project is supported by the Erasmus+ Program of the European Commission, Key Action 2: Strategic Partnership by means of Activity Agreement № CSP 2018-1-BG01-KA203-047962
